8. Can Type 1 be used for hot/cold insulation cladding & weatherproofing?

The coating for Type-1 is an aluminum-silicon alloy containing 5 to 10% silicon. The silicon is added to promote better coating adherence to the basic steel. It is intended principally for heat resisting applications and also where corrosion resistance and heat is involved.

Main application :exhaust systems of cars (temperature > 400 degrees C) Type 1 will not work for insulation cladding because for applications by ambient temperature, the aluminum sacrifices itself for the protection of the silicon. As a consequence, Type 1 will corrode very quickly after installation.
